In the course of my work I discuss household income with many hundreds of people each year.
I suspect I have infinitely more “real world interaction” in such matters than your good self, and can assure you that this isn’t some progressive woke nonsense, but just how family units operate in 2025.
Maybe you have misunderstood me. Assuming you really are a counselor of some kind and not making this up, are you telling me that in your experience, men prefer to sit home and take care of the children while their partner goes out and works more than, or as often as, women do? If your answer is yes to this question, I will question your objectivity (or honesty), no offense.
I’m not saying that you’re lying, but I reserve my right to be a bit skeptical.
No, not “more than”, or “as often as”, but more often than you seem to think.
In Australia it’s uncommon for someone to stay home exclusively with the kids for more than a year or so. Usually that’s the mother because she’s recovering from giving birth, breastfeeding et cetera.
Thereafter one parent works full time while the other works part time. In this phase it’s usually about income. Whoever can earn more works full time. That’s usually dad that’s working full time, but certainly not always.
Dad doesn’t need to be castrated and wear a frock or whatever to stay at home. In cases where mum and dad earn similar money dad might take back year off to stay home with the kids while mum works or something.
I don’t expect you to believe me, but since you seem to be marvelling at my extensive real world experience, I’m a tax consultant.
