I was the only one who beat it among my friends… for some it was too difficult or they didn’t like the rogue aspect of the game. It is really a unique game and certainly not for everybody (which is a shame, because it’s so great).

As for horizon: I really loved the story, setting and the world building, but gameplay wise it never really clicked with me. I felt that there where to many weapons and status effects (I preferred the simpler version in the first game) and the some of the machines had a bit too much health so that the fights felt artificially stretched. But probs for the accessibility options, auto-pickup/loot and that you get all parts from beaten machines. Haha, yes she really likes to talk… I really couldn’t bring myself to get the platinum, I even set it to the lowest difficulty to finish it. I really can’t say what it was, but it dragged on a bit too much.

Yeah, the gameplay of Alan Wake aged not so well, but as you sad, it is a fantastic game with an awesome stroy that is well paced too! Don’t forget to play the DLC chapters after you’ve beaten the game. They are only available via chapter select in the main menu!

I mean it makes sense, although I feel it’s actually not that hard if you stick to it. Eventually the game will click, for me sometime in the second biome and then it’s just amazing. The art design, the audio, the story… it’s all just so well crafted and anyone who appreciates art, even a little bit, will fall in love with it I think.

Regarding horizon, to me personally that was a good change. In the first game I was hyped about the many ways to kill a machine, that were announced before launch. I was almost at the end of the game I realized that I was basically only using the bow, if it wasn’t a Sidequest that required a different weapon. It slayed everything in its way.

In the forbidden West, I actually had to get to know the machines and their weakpoints. Use elemental effects, tear specific parts off to remove attacks. The gameplay finally got diverse to me. I’ve also heard this complaint from friends, that the enemies are quite the sponges but really as soon as you hit them with the right effects, they’re going down much better. Also the spikethrower. Those drilling spikes were just incredible, I loved throwing every one I threw (which where a lot lol)

And thanks for the tip regarding AW! I think I would’ve missed that haha

I agree, the first boss is the hardest one imho - it is a skill check of sorts. After I beat them it really clicked with me and I more or less blasted to the game in one go. It is truly a masterpiece, I couldn’t have described it better!

I played the first one when it came out… so I hardly remember anything anymore haha. But remember using two different bow and slingshots as well as the weapons for tethering the machines…

Could be that I wasn’t in the right mindset when I played it, but for me it felt like more of the same. Since Zelda BOTW I also find it a bit awkward when you are not able to climb everything - but this is not solely in Horizon the case. It certainly was a gorgeous looking game with a fantastic story and world, but the gameplay never really clicked with me… and I really can’t say why exactly, probably a combination of a few things. I never got into Monster Hunter, maybe that’s also a factor.

You are welcome! I was really confused when the DLCs were mentioned in the PSN description, but I couldn’t find them… And definitely play them - I don’t want to spoil anything haha, just do it!

Yea totally agree on that and tbh, I was slightly bummed there was no boss as hard as phrike anymore. Ixion was slightly hard the first try but especially nemesis was a joke imo. But the enemies in the biomes become incredibly difficult and I think it was biome 4 ( the icy one?) That absolutely shredded me, even without a boss.

Ohh I’m hyped for Alan Wake now! Although I’m playing more death stranding nowadays. Man I need more time haha
