Summary
Republicans’ efforts to portray Elon Musk as a MAGA martyr are failing, as his victim narrative struggles to resonate with conservative audiences.
Musk’s controversial statements and perceived elitism, including his complaints of being targeted by Democrats, have alienated even right-wing supporters.
Protests and vandalism against Tesla have damaged the brand, and Musk’s ties to Trump have hurt the Trump’s approval ratings, especially on economic issues.
Attempts to rally sympathy for Musk, including his emotional Fox News appearance, have largely backfired.
They basically want to kill me
Just remove the word basically and it will have been at least one accurate statement I’ve seen him make.
Salon says it’s “backfiring” but I’m not sure if the fact that the left has become the people who spray paint swastikas and burn down buildings is helping convince the normies that the left is peaceful and the right is violent.
The left could do nothing but kill themselves in the service of making right wing people’s lives better and they would still call them the violent left.
Well yeah. They’d be killing people. 🤷🏻♂️ /s
Also how can the GOP see what happened with Luigi and then think that the richest man in the world can be made into an effective martyr? I swear these people are all bumbling fucking idiots.
Nobody has a good view of insurance. Views on Elon, and his companies, are far more mixed. So it isn’t impossible. Even today there are a LOT of morons who basically see him as the messiah.
It’s not surprising that he’s not been able to exploit people’s empathy given that he has literally argued that empathy has gone too far.
Oh hey me and the GOP want the same thing for once
