As an owner of the Lectric XP 3.0, I received the following email today. Figured I’d pass it along since it came through the recall company and not directly through Lectric, so it might show up in your spam.

VOLUNTARY PRODUCT RECALL ALERT

In cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Lectric eBikes, LLC. is voluntarily recalling the Disc Brake Calipers on the Lectric XP 3.0 electric bike model. The mechanical disc brake calipers located on the front and rear of the e-bike can fail resulting in loss of control, posing crash and injury hazards to the rider.

The recalled component was installed on units that were sold between November 1, 2022 and May 6, 2023. If you purchased an XP 3.0 Lectric eBike during this time, stop using the product immediately.

The following models purchased between November 1, 2022 and May 6, 2023 may be affected:

  • XP 3.0
  • XP 3.0 Long-Range
  • XP Step-Thru 3.0
  • XP Step-Thru 3.0 Long-Range

What to do:

Step 1: Stop using the product immediately.

Step 2: Determine if your bike is affected by verifying the purchase date and confirming that you have an XP 3.0 model. “Lectric” is printed on the bike frame. The XP 3.0 model name is printed on the rear rack in blue.

Step 3: If you’ve determined that your bike is affected, please visit www.lectricebikesrecall.expertinquiry.com or call 877-479-5422 to file a claim. You’ll be provided with a unique claim ID number. Please save or make a copy of your claim ID number.

Step 4: A new front and rear brake caliper kit will be shipped free of charge to your location. Consumers will receive up to $100 towards the cost to install front and rear mechanical brake calipers.

Please use the below order number for registration online. Order Number: (redacted)

We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause you. We know you are eager to start riding your Lectric eBike, LLC. again as soon as possible. Out of an abundance of caution, we believe this is the right thing to do, and we hope you understand.

Yeah, mine started to stick after like 300 miles. Shitty mechanical brakes on a 75 lb bike is some bullshit. I’ll probably either sell mine or upgrade to hydraulics (or both I guess).
