What’s great about Superman: it has excellent audience exits of A- CinemaScore, 74% definite recommend and 86% positive on Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak. Solid A CinemaScores from the Under 24 set including kids.
Now I am curious. Was it any good?
Also it’s a kinda heartwarming reminder (to me) that loud people on social media aren’t “normal” and don’t reflect what normal people go out and do.
I liked it but I didn’t love it. To me, you will enjoy this movie if you are a fan of Christopher Reeves. For me however, what stopped me from loving this movie was that Superman had to share much of his screentime with imo too many characters.
That being said, some side characters were good, others were great.
Maybe I would have loved it if we had a longer movie with more of Superman.
Either way, I’m going back to the theater on Tuesday 😅
That sounds good! TBH I love movies with side characters, and I kinda got that vibe from the article too (where all the marketing was superman, but the dog and others seemingly stole scenes.)
its biggest flaw is that it tries to juggle a lot of characters, so given that its a movie, some don’t get enough screen time to flesh out.
Hence they need a new Superman TV series!
That’s actually what I really enjoyed. The story stayed focused on Superman. It didn’t try to flesh out secondary and tertiary characters too much and didn’t need to. We knew enough and that’s all that mattered.
It was pretty decent, one of the better DC movies in the last few years. A little more goofy and closer to the older comics in tone than the last few superman movies. Worth the watch IMO
“One of the better DC movies in the last few years…” This is a much lower bar than most are willing to admit … Not that I assume this movie is bad. Just a funny coincidence.
They did a very good job. Some of the C-list characters are pretty much wallpaper, but the top tier characters are all handled well.
S-Tier - Superman, Lois, Lex
A-List - Mister Terriffic, Krypto
B-List - Metamorpho, Guy Gardner
C-List - Hawkgirl, The Engineer, Ultraman, Jimmy, Cat, Steve, Perry, Eve Tessmacher, Ma & Pa Kent.Blink and you miss them: Otis, Supergirl
Whoa, that is a lot to develop in one 2-hour movie.
I liked it a lot. Of all of the comic book movies I’ve seen it’s the one that feels most like it was lifted straight off of the pages. The complaints people have about it are valid but none of them affected my experience.
Can’t get to a theater currently so I have to wait for home release! Looks exciting though.
