In June, Carlethia Russell called 911 and said she had spotted a child walking alone on I-459 South. Russell then called her family saying she has stopped her car to check on the child. After that, the family member lost contact with her.

Police found her vehicle but no sign of Russell or a child, sparking a frantic search that ended when Russell appeared at her family’s home July 15. Police uncovered evidence that Russell fabricated the entire story and faked her own abduction, which Russell later admitted to through her lawyer.

I dont understand how people can be like this. But I’ve also never been an attention seeker. I don’t understand how even bad attention is a good thing to these people.

“Good” attention makes me uncomfortable. “Bad” attention makes me cry.

Her boyfriend was truly worried about her in every interview while she was missing. He obviously cared about her and even defended her after she returned home when people started questioning her story. Hope she got the attention she wanted after putting her family through all that.

I can’t decide which side I’m on with that last sentence. On one side, yes can mean she’ll do something worse next time. On the other side of yes means she’s now armed with the knowledge that it worked. One side of no can mean she’ll do something worse next time. The other side means she realized her stupidity and won’t do it again. I feel like people who do these things don’t think through their actions, which is why I didn’t even include the yes and she’s satisfied.

By the time I finished writing all that, I realized you could also be using sarcasm, in which case I apologize if my response was in any way offensive.
