Tightrope? They are framing ethnic cleansing and genocide as self-defense.
“Our fear is that we’ll pay a heavy price in the global south because of this conflict,” says one EU official.
Ah man people of the world aren’t gonna like it when we do an open genocide in front of the world to see. Ah, well, nevertheless. Commence with the genocide.
And at the same time western diplomats are being told to not talk about de escalation

Let’s consider the moral dilemma - shall we? It’s not exactly the trolley problem.
- If you follow the official Israeli line - it’s good for your career but you are a turd.
or
- If tell the truth - it’s bad (if not horrible) for your career as a diplomat but you are righteous. You can always get a job doing something else.
Nearly all of them will do #1.
They all came up the ranks by choosing decision #1 everytime.
