Honestly I think the “Microsoft is evil” is clearly ignoring the engineers who work for Microsoft who actually do like open source and pressured the company to allow them to participate.

All of the things we hate about Microsoft we’re clearly executive decisions that overruled what the engineers wanted.

Their terminal emulator can use all shells, just like all the other terminal emulators ever.

It is particularly easy to set up different profiles with different shells with Windows Terminal compared to some other terminal emulators though.

Microsoft terminal is amazing. I use it daily at work. Pair with WSL, and any Linux distro and life gets way better than PowerShell, which has never been for me.

What the heck? Even my mac coworkers are jelly about windows terminal. Tabs, splits, ability open any installed shell in it etc.

I used CMDer, Clink and others for many years, and don’t miss those one bit.

Is MS Powershell bad now? What’s the alternative? I am using Win11 and it’s great.

I dunno, my middle school days had fond memories of learning how to write batch scripts… HOWEVER. I’ll just let that nostalgia stay in the past and stick to my guake as a nerd hobbiest that’s not in the business
