    For real. Here’s another example.

Discovery is going into it’s final season at the moment. It’s been announced that this was supposed to be the ‘Year of Discovery’ when it come to celebrating the show. Whether you like it or not, you cannot deny that without Discovery we would simply not have any of the other Trek we currently do. Everything spawned from the success of that reboot and it deserves celebration and praise. For those who don’t like it, that’s fine. It’ll be over soon. But let us celebrate us.

Then comes NYCC yesterday. They start pumping out tons of news. Starfleet Academy will have Tilly and Tawny Newsome will be a writer! Section 31 show is still on the go! And then not a single fucking word about Discovery. No news about the new season despite the writers strike preventing the cast from promoting the show. No shots. No celebration. No fucking nothing.

I’m getting extremely tired of Paramount+ pretending that they love Star Trek so much. Like… you’re a company. WE love Star Trek. You make horrifically insulting supershort animations that supposedly praise 50 years of Trek animation while actively ignoring your most recently animated show. Your a company trying to make a buck.

If Paramount stopped trying to pretend they loved Trek so much then it wouldn’t feel so fucking insulting when they kick Trek to the curb the second they’re done with it.

I’ll give them a mild defense here - they did discuss Discovery, albeit briefly:

“We have finished it. It will be airing early next year. It’s an incredibly satisfying ending to a show that is so near and dear to my heart. Sonequa Martin-Green gave the performance of her life. I think you guys are going to love it.”

It’s very likely that they planned this panel to be non-WGA in the event that the writers’ strike hadn’t ended by the time of the convention, which would explain why the only panelist of note, besides Kurtzman himself, was Mike McMahan.

Yeah, that’s frustrating. I hope they step up and promote the last season like they’ve said they will. I feel like their publicity efforts have really been all over the map.

      Edit:

Case in point, like what the heck is this whole Kid Cudi brand collab stuff? I’ve seen several teaser sort of things about it, and I have no idea what it is or who it’s supposed to be for. This suggests to me that it’s aimed at younger audiences, but is Kid Cudi even relevant to them? Dude’s my age, and I’m only really familiar with him from his time on Comedy Bang! Bang!
