This just sounds kind of egotistical to me, why even compare yourselves to them? Be happy for them, get over yourself.
EDIT
The downvotes tell me that you all need to get over yourselves. Stop obsessing over other people, live your own life. Someone elses accomplishments do not diminish your own, and different people meet different milestones at different times in their life.
Y’all need to get off the computer and go live life.
It’s possible to feel two things at once you know.
Anon can both be happy to see this couple go through their milestones, and also feel a bit sad in feeling that their life has stalled by comparison.
Is it a good idea to live your life comparing yourself to other people? No it isn’t, but even if you normally don’t, there are times that feeling can creep in uninvited anyway.
Because it’s a vent post - of course they’re focusing on that internal feeling of sadness, that’s the point.
If you actually read the post, Anon does state that they’re happy for the couple multiple times, but they don’t focus on that because not only would it not be funny, it’d also miss the entire point of the vent post.
As I said before, it’s not healthy to live life by comparison, but it is perfectly valid to feel happy for someone else’s progress while feeling a bit sad on your own introspection.
It’s clear you just lack critical reasoning to get that the anon isnt supposing he’s looking good in this scenario, he’s saying he knows he is in the wrong for worrying about it and is coming to grips with that.
Oh wow I lack critical reasoning lmao. Can you be more of a condescending asshole to me please?
Seriously take a step back and think, is that an appropriate way to talk to someone that disagrees with you? Is every statement made by every person objective, with only one correct viewpoint?
Maybe I lack critical reasoning, because I can’t understand why you think this is an appropriate way to speak to someone just because it’s anonymous. If you said that sort of thing to someone in person you’d be visiting the dentist afterwards, but because it’s a random internet argument you think it’s ok.
I wouldn’t be “visiting a dentist” because the people I associate with are mature enough to recognize normally formed criticism of speech that they started (you originally commented).
Being told you lack critical reasoning is literally the most polite way you can expect to ever hear the criticism of this kind. Any other way I could have worded it could, and probably should have been more rude.
Objective truth is indeed a reach, but you are so far from reality that it’s as if you tried.
What the anon DOES have is some growing self reflection, that will probably greatly improve their life as it grows. Maybe you will benefit as well.

The entire post is them comparing themselves to this couple, there is no feeling two things at once going on here.

He’s literally struggling with ego and self worth, and confiding that he has trouble sorting it out.
That is not how it comes across, the entire thing sounds like them crying while using the couple as an excuse for doing so.
That’s not how it comes across to you sure.

Geez man.
Wow what a useful comment and definitely not dogpiling on a negative score lol.
