In another video, he mentioned a terminal/commandline program called proxychains-ng that also looked interesting as it changed your IP address with just a few lines typed in your terminal.

XMPP and Matrix are supposedly good ways to use encrypted communication if set up correctly.

Just ideas to possibly live freely for longer.

    Those are some good techniques.

    When you rent a VPS server through a standard provider you will need to identify yourself and prove your identity. You can interact with the web through the VPS and the IP that will be visible to others is the VPS’ IP and not your home IP. This, in combination with fingerprint obfuscation and deleting cookies, can be a good way to increase your privacy against online trackers without relying on a VPN provider. But it will not make you un-identifiable, as an agency can request the identity associated with that IP, and abuse complaints (such as piracy) delivered to the VPS providers will be re-routed to you. Supposedly there are some anonymous VPS providers that can be paid using cryptocurrencies, but I have no experience with them.

    Using the TOR browser is an easy way of getting a higher level of privacy at the cost of the browser being slower and some sites not working. This is what most people use to access the dark markets, for example.

    As for the chat, I host an XMPP server from my a raspberry pi in my house using a program called prosody. It was a bit of a hassle to set up the first time, but now it has been running smoothly for like a year. I do recommend it. Matrix has more of the modern chat features, but from what I hear it is a considerably more taxing program to run on a small server.
