I like how in the article they give some stats for the partially completed Lake to Lake bike lane. Are the butthurt NIMBY’s who want “just one more lane!!1!” really asking for all those bikes to be more cars on the same roads?
I get into this argument all the time at work when talking about separated bike lanes. What would be the benefit of one more lane for cars vs. two lanes for bikes? If you are already complaining about traffic, is more cars on the roads (and consequently more space for parking lots and car infrastructure) really what they want? It’s kind of like how Not Just Bikes says the Netherlands is the best country for drivers because all the transit options reduce the number of cars, so when you do have to drive (or want to drive) you don’t have to deal with as many other drivers.
“we have so many other priorities”
I don’t know how these people tie their shoelaces knowing that ‘more important things’ are happening anywhere else in the world
God forbid people have more than one thing on their to-do list
Then let’s talk about traffic calming measures, transit, multiuse pathways and walkable neighborhoods with mixed use buildings.
