An experiment in 2020s incentivizing the workplace as a dot-com-era adult playground where work also occurs has ended with a whimper in downtown SF. Tech company Expensify is shutting down its bar, which it opened earlier this year, after six months.
The difference between treatment of office workers to laborers is depressing.
There are really people out there living their best life while laborers are working 7 12s. That shit gets to me.
Some have already spent their years laboring and all while pursuing an education during/after long weeks of work. Me and most of my friends from high school have gone through this path.
What is more of a concern to me is that office jobs are no longer an opportunity for those of us with a university education. It has lumped us with those that do not value self-improvement.
