It’s a basic fact that milk comes from animals whereas extracts, juices, essences, nectars and the like are generally products of plants.

The Milk alternative companies and consumers should be changing their products to reflect this. Not moaning about being called out everytime for their mislabelled beverages.

Coconut milk or scouring milk are also called milk and do not come from animals. All of that is just an artificially overblown discussion. No one would drink scouring milk because it is ‘mislabelled’ as milk either. The calling out only appears because dairy industry is scared, so they denounce plant milk and spread false propaganda and fear mongering.

I don’t care if the plant based ones are called milk or not. I care what’s in it and how it’s made. Which isn’t as good for me or the environment as they say. Like I used to really like this one brand of oat milk until I realized that the fat in it comes from polyunsaturated seed oils which are their own big problem. The fat content and calcium and vitamins they are fortified with are pretty similar between dairy milk and plant based ones but that’s not what you should be looking at.

At the end of the day we should probably be drinking neither… or your choice of which but heavily moderated.

What about soy milk? Are there any issues with how it’s made? I confess to being a big fan of Vanilla Silk. Also, please tell me more about polyunsaturated seed oils any why they’re bad.

Oh, I actually just don’t like the taste of that enough to look into it lol. I’d prefer to just not have milk like things than drink it. If it’s healthy and you like it though then that is a great option!
