Right now, I’m playing the early access version of Baldurs Gate 3. I’m getting ready to put it down (frustrated: BG3 has the potential to be good, but without controller support, I’m getting really frustrated with the UI. ) and switch to Yakuza Like a Dragon.
What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to playing next?
I’m still not sure if I want to get the Steam Deck, I play portable games on my Switch and while I miss out on having all my Steam library and stuff, I just can’t seem to reasonably justify buying one
I sold my switch when I got my SD. I couldn’t justify having a worse device, with worse ergonomics, with worse games pricing, and technically with no exclusives (thank you Yuzo). the SD is all-around a much better device than any Switch.
@NekomimiNebula It’s a lot of fun to have one :)
I would wait, I enjoy mine and it was worth it. But the Deck does have some issues that revisions could fix. I bought it with the hope of showing there is a market in Linux gaming, along with a portable market. Having a standard baseline will help show there is a market.
I have a gaming laptop and a strong desktop. I just got 350 dollars on Steam that is directly tied to my Steam account. So I’ve been considering if I buy tons of games or if I buy a Steam deck. If I buy a Steam deck I might be able to more easily play games but I feel like it’s going to be obsolete in a year or two. Feels like buying games right now is the best move because I already have the hardware.
From your comment. I’ll likely be skipping on the Steam deck. I kind of want one just for collection but probably not worth it at this time.
Yeah, I would wait since you have a gaming laptop. I enjoy my steamdeck when I use it. It’s more comfortable then the Switch, but has worse battery life and the screen isnt the best (I have a swoled though). Offline mode is much more hit and miss since pc gaming kinda of expects internet all the time. Plus since it’s Linux games can be hit and miss. Proton has been making amazing strides. I’m really hopeful for seeing the handheld pc market improve though. And hopefully my next gaming desktop can skip windows as well.

It is a better device than the switch in essentially every way, BUT it’s hella pricey and Nintendo has that first party magic that a lot of gamers (myself included) can’t resist. If you’re like me and don’t have a gaming PC, it’s a great additional device. But again $$$$$$$$
I have a gaming laptop which I use as my main PC.
