Its now running on a dedicated server with 6 cores/12 threads and 32 gb ram. I hope this will be enough for the near future. Nevertheless, new users should still prefer to signup on other instances.

    Please please excuse me for my ignorance but does it matter if you sign up on multiple servers? I have very little experience in any of this so I’m not entirely sure if that’s a no go or whatever.

      nope, you can sign up for as many as you want. I currently have three, but may delete one or two if I don’t really like the home experience of the others. go to http://the-federation.info/platform/73 to view all of the different instances and check their sidebars to see if any seem like a place that resonates with your interests. Since the Reddit migration it looks like there are a lot of catch-all instances now, but before I believe a lot of them had loose “themes”. Also, you may know this, but if you scroll to the bottom of a instance and click the “instances” link, it’ll show you all of the instances that they are already federated with, and the list of blocked instances.
