Since I got the bird feeder the other day I’ve became aware of how fucking expensive bird seed is! It’s a fucking fortune, and the greedy bastards have the feeder emptied within an hour of me filling it to the brim.

Stupidly, I feel some sort of fucking responsibility for the little fuckers now. How does that make sense? They obviously survived just fine before I put up a wee pink birdhouse, but nope. Sunk 25 quid on bird seed since I got it.

As I understood it, you should only put food out in the winter when natural food is scarce. They’ll go to your food first as its easier, but they lose the ability to find natural stuff / come to rely on you.

Oh fuck, really? But I love watching them :( There were a bunch of starlings with big juveniles that shrieked to be fed, so at least that made life a bit easier for them I guess.

Acht well, I’ve got a wee bird bath feeder-type thing as well, so I guess filling just the water part will attract enough of them for me to watch.

Edit - had a wee read of the RSPB site which has a good wee section on when and what to feed. It seems that during exceptionally dry periods like this it’s ok to put out because they can struggle to find their natural food, like worms etc. The seed I have has mealworms in it so all is well it seems. Crisis averted!

Wish it was, but nah it’s a wee flock of starlings and handful of sparrows. Mostly the starlings though that decimate it.

    This heat is miserable.

I binned all my shorts at the end of last summer and never got around to buying any more. Twat.

Noisy builders. I can handle the hammering, cutting and banging because it’s work, but the fucking radio at full blast is really starting to wear now. Three months of this and counting!

Ugh yeah although for me it’s all the power tools. As soon as the sun comes out, everyone around me decides it’s time to rebuild their entire house starting at 6:55am every day.

From the sound of it, the first step must be blowing the whole thing down with a load of jet engines and drilling into the Earth’s core to trigger an earthquake.

Man I feel ya… I got hit by a motorcycle in july last year and can’t use my left hand since then. It’s less bad than being in a wheelchair, but the pain caused by someone else is just godawful…

I’m pretty sure it’ll heal in time though. The body do be like that

You can get medical cannabis on a private prescription legally in the uk now. It does wonders for my sciatica, helps me sleep at night when my back is really sore. Stops me from using harsher mens like codeine or naproxen they really upset my stomach.

Yes to the hay fever although it’s not really my eyes, it’s my nose, throat and inner ears. It’s driving me nutty! Antihistamines make me feel rough as hell too, so it’s either don’t take them and suffer or do take them and suffer in a different way. I’m all for councils doing a bit of rewilding and I really want the bees to be safe, but I will moan about the pollen.

Also, the twat across the road leaves his poor dog outside 24/7 all year round. It barks incessantly day and night, howls at every siren and generally sounds like a very unhappy dog. It’s upsetting.

Although I have asthma and the tree pollen in the spring sometimes gives me hay fever, usually the grass pollen in the summer isn’t a problem.

I woke in the early hours of this morning with really bad acid reflux and it’s burnt my vocal cords, throat, you name it.

Sorted the acid reflux with some antacids quite quickly however the acid was there long enough to cause some damage. I need to remember to take antacids before bed…

Despite all my good intentions my pain levels are really bad right now. Not sure if it the heat or if my body is just reminding me that it doesn’t have to use my stomach to make me miserable.

As such, I will be stuck inside today, if I attempt to get sunscreen between my shoulders I this state I might end up in A&E. Wish the cricket were starting today instead of tomorrow, that would be a perfect excuse to not move at all. Also, I have some “ripen at home” plums I bought three weeks ago, they would be perfect for the nets…

Obviously don’t know your circumstances, but living with pain of any sort is just so demoralising! Have you tried the likes of Sapphire Medical Clinics etc for prescribed cannabis meds? I get prescribed actual weed but also a tincture of 20mg/ml THC and 20mg/ml CBD and the stuff is a god send for my wife’s rheumatoid arthritis. It’s something like 50 quid for the intial consultation, and then 50 quid every 3 months for a check up consultation. Tincture is 30ml for £100 and that lasts the whole month.

Unfortunately I am not really in a financial position to do that. Many years ago I complained to my GP that a lot of my problems could be helped by cannabis, and he completely agreed! It was before any usage was approved in the UK, and he is retired now.

Until cannabis is available on an NHS prescription, it will remain on my wishlist. Daft really, they could save a fortune on my other meds.

          Sorry to hear that mate.

I can’t understand such an archaic outlook when it comes to legalisation in this country. Especially when countries around the world are legalising. Germany, legal for medical use since 2017 and I think they’re looking at recreational now as well? Would save the NHS an absolute fortune. Some of the shit they prescribe is nuts. From about 14 I was prescribed 30/500 Co-codamols, that I was taking 4 times a day. I stopped when I, shockingly, became dependent. Doubt I’d have been able to lead the life I have without using weed as pain management.

Hopefully you find something that works mate!

That’s some crazy strong pain killers for a 14 year old!! The nhs just don’t seem to know how to deal with chronic pain, they offer things like cbt which might be OK for psychological issues but when it’s a physical ailment then praying the pain away isn’t going to work.

I am currently on 60mg of Codeine 4 x a day (on bad days, I can usually manage with less) as well as paracetamol and Naproxen. Add in my sleep meds, anxiety meds, stomach meds and they could save a fortune!

What really upsets me is that a shittonne of medical grade cannabis is grown in the UK, but it all - or at least most of it - is exported.

Those must play havoc with your stomach as well! It was actually being on naproxenn that gave the final motivation to try and get medical. I think they need you to have proven you’ve tried two types of medications for your symptons, and since co-codamol was a no, naproxenn giving me hella heartburn was pretty much all the justification they need in order to prescribe medicinal.

And aye, it’s British Sugar as well that grows it! Mental.
