I am trying to decide which of the PS+ tiers to buy; specifically, I’m debating between “extra” and “premium”. The Premium tier alludes to there being more games, but it’s really hard to find a venn diagram somewhere with specifically which high profile games are in Premium but not Extra.

Is premium worth the extra? I’m really only interested in playing bundled games. I wouldn’t use any of the other features.

What has y’all’s experience been?

I currently have premium, but rarely ever I use its features. I think only the trials might be worth it but they are usualy just 1-2h and cloud streaming, which I had trouble to make work as my connection is no the best.

I had premium and cancelled it when I got an internal SSD, I mostly just used it to stream a couple games to see if I liked them without having to move a bunch of stuff off the console storage before I got the expansion. Game Trials and the Classics Catalog didn’t really justify it for me.

I didn’t have any issues streaming, but I do have a 500mbs connection. The service seemed stable enough for me and I didn’t notice any stuttering or anything.

I used the streaming for years when it was psnow. The only problems I ever had were on my own home network. Any time a streaming game got laggy or I straight up couldnt connect: it was always something in my house. Too many people trying to watch 4k Netflix while I was trying to play… dad’s new pc hoggin all the bandwidth to do backups right after supper time… hell, even the ps4 trying to download an update will mess with the ps4 trying to stream at the same time.

All that being said: I dont think premium is worth it unless you want the classic PS1/2 catalogue, or you plan on doing a ton of streaming-play on a pc. Because that’s the only difference from Extra really.

Extra however is a goldmine. Every game Ive played this year was from Extra. I havent even touched the other free monthly games that come with the cheapest Essentials yet. Just a pile of AAA games since December. Miles Morales, Tsushima, Guardians of the Galaxy right now…

I have extra and I don’t have time to play all the games. I think premium tier caters to more older games like the PS3 games that you need to stream.

Well personally premium works for me because I like retro games a lot. Plus it makes me happy having tons of games to try out.

Premium is only worth it through sales in my opinion. You don’t get that much extra from it unless you want to stream ps3 games which can be hit or miss.

In the most recent sales i upgraded from extra to premium for £8 with 280ish days left. That was a worth it upgrade to me.

If you do not have a deal available, stick with extra, it’s much better value for your money.

Extra is 100% worth it. Premium is worth it only if you make use of the game trials. They’re extremely nice to have, and for $20 more a year it’s worth it to me, since playing some of the trials as saved me from buying those games since I ended up not enjoying them. But Premium isn’t for everyone. I don’t use the streaming or the classic games but that’s there too.
