boy howdy i’m happy new HP stuff is being made with trans-inclusive stuff to spite J.K., and i’m happy some of the new stuff won’t be obligated to give J.K. royalties.

I’ve never liked HP, but I know a lot of trans friends who did before J.K. went whole-hog into transphobia, so i’m happy they might be able to still engage with the franchise that defined their childhoods without having to give J.K. their money.

Can you explain how stuff can be made against her will. This is great news to me, but I didn’t hear about it ! Which trans-inclusive stuff for example ?

      The in advance !

NBCUniversal owns the rights to the HP IP, they bought the IP outright. J.K. Rowling can still make things in the world and confirm or deny lore stuff, but she doesn’t own any of it anymore. She, as far as I know, only gets royalties from sales of the books and the movies at this point, and - again as far as I know - isn’t getting royalties from new things made with the IP. The IP has essentially been stripped from her.

Oh thanks for the answer ! I really have to learn about intellectual property in the US. Seen from here in Europe (in France) this kind of things seems otherworldly !

Hopefully, all intellectual property will be scooped up by gigantic corporations who can manage it for the benefit of all.
