        I agree. Make people think twice about downvoting. It might help keep it from being used as an “I disagree” button.

        About 10 years ago I guess I offended some deranged lunatic on reddit who proceeded to stalk my account and down vote every comment I made and would leave weird, vaguely threatening replies to my comments. I had no choice but to delete that account. Luckily there was nothing that could have publicly identified me. I don’t think people need to see who is down voting comments.

        I ALSO don’t like that I tried to delete this account but it interpreted that as a “request” and it needs to be “reviewed”. Fuck that.

        We have anonymous voting in politics. People tend to think it is a good policy. Why do you think it is different online?

          If you keep your account anonymous and don’t dox yourself, there’s not much to worry about. I’m not scared of a few internet losers trying to dig up info on somebody insignificant and unimportant like me.

        It can’t easily be removed since it needs to send out that information into the federated network. At best the function to quickly see that can be removed from the GUI.
