Democrat Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear vetoed a bill banning minors from being placed on puberty blockers and hormones, claiming these are “basic medical decisions.” Luckily, the governor’s veto did not stick as the Republicans have a supermajority and were able to override him.

    Hi friend.

    do you really believe that there are No known irreversible side effects of puberty blockers. A drug being used to stop the sexual development of a child with a drug only fda approved for prostate cancer?

    Do you think it has no physiological side effects on the growing brain? No bone density issues? Nothing?

    Tbh your opinion doesn’t feel like it’s being expressed in good faith.

      Just like all treatments their absolutely are side effects, whether those make sense in a given situation is a decision between a healthcare professional and a child / their parents. The government should absolutely not have any stake in the decision, and reactionary conservative politicians even less so.

        The government absolutely has interest in protecting the child. The onus is on the drug manufacturer to prove they are save and have no irreversible side effects. They clearly do have irreversible side effects if used long term but that is besides the point. They have not even begun to attempt to try to lie about it. That is why it’s not approved for that use.

        Most kids with gender dysphoria grow out of it. Some become gay or even straight people comfortable in their own bodies.

        If even one child regrets it (and many have come forward with regret) It should be outlawed. They cannot consent to such a treatment because they don’t have the mental capacity to do so.
