Okay, so I know you’re busy Laurence, but I wondered if I could request… in the coming weeks, so no rush… You just share your experience of pivoting to Lemmy. Was it painful? Was it easy? How did you find the APIs? What type of things are you looking forward to being implemented? What challenges have you encountered and been proud of overcoming? Just a few short sentences to give us some insight into your thoughts and feelings of coming to lemmy and building a new Sync. If possible of course.
You should join his discord. He talks a bit about the process sofar. But he doesnt seem to be the type to write paragraphs. He seems more like a line or two here and there intersperse with a joke or 3. It’s been fun watching the transition from “reddit is dying, thanks for all the fish” to “lemmy might be a thing let me look into it” into “I think this will work, I wonder if the lemmy devs will be open to suggestions for things I wanted from reddit for 5+ years”.
Can you send a link to his discord?

I’m not sure if there’s another but there’s one tied to his patreon.
Glad to see they’re thinking that as well. The way Lemmy was explained it didn’t sound like it had a chance, but the user experience is quite a bit simpler then people made it out to be.
Thank you. I keep trying to pull away from discord towards an open alternative and here’s you sucking me back in 😭
I would think the developers are open to suggestions though. I know they’re certainly merging pull requests.
Cinny (Matrix) looks like one of the best decentralised Discord alternatives that I have found so far. If decentralisation is not what you after, then Revolt.chat is easily the closest Discord clone.
