European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell on Monday urged allies of Israel — primarily the United States — to stop sending the Jewish state weapons, as “too many people” are being killed in Gaza.
“How many times have you heard the most prominent leaders and foreign ministers around the world saying: ‘Too many people are being killed’? President Biden said: ‘This is (over) the top’,” Borrell said, referring to Biden’s recent remarks.
“Well, if you believe that too many people are being killed, maybe you should provide less arms in order to prevent so many people being killed.”
“Is (it) not logical?” he asked, in a Brussels news conference. “In 2006, in the war against Lebanon, the US already took this decision. They already took the decision to halt the supply of arms to Israel because Israel did not want to stop the war — exactly the same thing that happens today.”
I still don’t understand why news agencies insist on using the word slam. 99% of the time the word criticizes would be far better.
Either way, he’s right. It’s hypocritical to enable a behavior you’re criticizing
