When you’ve been exposed to nothing but capitalsm your whole life it’s incredibly hard to be convinced that anything else could even work. Just like people born into religious cults, it’s hard to break when it’s all you’ve known.

I think the intent is that no end user will even need to know of it. As long as it gets built into applications it can still be widely adopted.
A few years ago I picked up a pair of these:
NIMASO 6FT USB C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable 10Gbps 100W PD TB3 cable https://a.co/d/bKGGUE4
I’ve used both of them pretty much daily as my on-the-go charging kit along with a nice 100w USB PD charging brick. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality, durability and reliability of the cables.
Most of my use case is just for charging my Thinkpad P1 gen 1 and Pixel 5 via USB C, but I have on occasion used them for data transfer over both USB and TB3 without issues. The connectors have remained reliable and haven’t developed any wiggle like some of the other cables I’ve used. The braided shielding is beefy, you really can’t bend these into a tight radius, which is very good for durability. There’s a nice little rubberized section at the ends and in my usage so far I haven’t noticed any excessive wear around the junction.
Obviously I’d take my experience with a grain of salt, I have just two units to compare against the thousands sold, and these aren’t from some big, well known or reputable brand. I would be interested to hear about anyone else’s experience with these cables before saying you can buy them for life.
Whether it’s YouTube, Twitter or Reddit, all corporations that make their profits from advertising on the back of UGC have the same systemic failure in their calculus.
There’s a monetary incentive to provide a platform to hate. There isn’t one to deplatform it.
It’s not impossible, they’ve just chosen not to. That says more than any AMA
I hopped onto Lemmy yesterday when I saw the news that Sync was shutting down. Already enjoying the communites more than I ever was on reddit.
I’m using jerboa right now, agreeded. It’s not the worst experience but there’s definitely improvements to be made.
There’s a real opportunity in transitioning existing reddit clients to access Lemmy instead. Keep the user base, change the platform.
It was a really well done app. I’m hoping that the developers can pivot to a lemmy client, just so their work doesn’t go to waste.
Is this any surprise? I applaud the effort to state it plainy, but if you’ve been paying attention to the development of the MAGA movement since 2015 it seems pretty obvious that authoritarian facism on behalf of the white supremacists has always been the goal.
