I have been using GNU Stow for about a year and it’s great.

On the wiki there is a page about dd. The section 2.2 focuses on full disk cloning.

I started with debian but I always liked the idea of rolling release distro so I switched to arch a year or so ago and I’ve been happily using it to this day
