  • You talking about this posts?

I did not want to take further actions in that thread in general (for archival purposes), but I did take one action, which in retrospect was a mistake: I removed a comment which contained the hammer and sickle symbol. I ignorantly associated this symbolism with Kremlin propaganda, and the atrocities my own people suffered at the hands of the soviet union during the previous century. Many users (including hexbear users) correctly (and politely) pointed out to me in DMs that the symbol has a much broader use than just as the symbol of the USSR, and people elsewhere in the world may not associate it with the USSR at all. I am grateful for users who pointed this out to me without resorting to personal attacks.

I get hes not a leftist. But I feel like he gets a “one of the good ones” stickers.

  • This was a small show with a local guy talking. He’s bad at this and its sad to hear. Like you said, its sad to think this is what he chooses to do. He’s filled with so much hatred that he can’t even think straight. Meanwhile, blaming others for their hatred without a hint of irony.

People like Glen Beck are better about the grift. Hes been talking about his new book called “Dark Future”. No idea what its fully about, but he talks about “the great reset” and the WEF’s quote “you will own nothing and enjoy it”. It sounds like Marxist theory, but framed like its a bad thing.

I think its important to know where the conservatives mindset is coming from. Part of it, I know I have to avoid some people like that first guy. He is unreasonable and is motivated by hatred, thats it. But the conservative laborers in my union who listen to Glen Beck? I feel like there’s an avenue to convince them because their understanding of communism is based off a lie.

  • Last bit of irony for me - I switched jobs maybe 6 months ago and the last week at my old job they announced “employees will no longer be tested for marijuana”. I’m kinda pissed about that. New job is a government job so…

But I’m not of the opinion that all vices are bad. You should be able to enjoy yourself, you just have to be in control. Little proofs to yourself like this are perfect to show you are in control or need a longer break.

  • Holy shit I can relate to this. I was an everyday stoner. Used to sell weed too, so I had surplus all the time. I’d quit smoking so I could pass a drug test for work but then it was back to habitual smoking.

Maybe 3 years ago I had a coworker “randomly drug tested”. He tested positive for weed and was fired on the spot. Scared the shit outta me. I knew I had to quit after that.

I tried quitting cold turkey but I struggled. I had a cheat day every once and a while. Like, I’d scrape my grinder clean for one hit. Or take a dirty ass resin hit from the bong. Still ended up quitting but it took some effort.

I have noticed over the years that my drinking increased to compensate the lack of smoking. I’ve ended up making a rule that I can only drink on the weekends. Seems to help a bit.

  • 100% Bernie changed my mind. A simple campaign of “Healthcare for All” got me thinking, why don’t we already have that? Pushed me way to the left when I did more reading (looking at you, Karl). Then Bernie getting fucked over started my reform doomer arc.

A push of reform will gain support for the movement. Reform failing encourages support for a revolution. A threat of revolution makes reform actually possible. These ideologies should go hand in hand but holy fuck do these people normally hate each other.

  • So if anything us Communists should be MORE Doomer

Unironically, sort of my beliefs. I’m basically a DemSoc who has little faith that reform will work. As Capitalism continues and inequality grows while the planet burns, a more drastic change becomes more and more inevitable.

I’m already Doomer on the reform - time to preemptively become Doomer on the revolution!

    Btw congrats on the job!
