I’m speaking for all of those who donated to you because this is 100% true (and if they disagree then they’re just doodooheads), we don’t care about any money we’ve give you. We care about you. You are a priority, much like anyone who finds themselves under the heel of our unjust society. Sure, we care about your whales too, insofar as they matter to you. You matter infinitely more than any dollar wasted, drug taken, or property lost. We’re comrades.

I wish I could take away the pain you are experiencing.

In the last thread some people suggested reaching out to state-funded groups, like rehabs and/or group homes. Have you considered this further?

If you don’t know where to start looking for this information, please reach out to someone in-person or DM someone you trust on Hexbear or Lemmygrad or whatever.

Edit: I swore a bunch because I got passionate.

  • I read this for the first time last year, the English translation by Bill Johnson. Never seen any of the adaptations.

I wouldn’t say I love this book. I will say that I was captivated by it. I read that, with the planet ocean, Lem was trying to describe something truly alien. How could you not agree that he succeeded? The ocean’s inscrutable motives, if you could say the ocean had motivation at all, and actions were so fucking bizarre. I loved that.

I think a lot of sci-fi authors and filmmakers try to do this. The Engineers in Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise come to mind. But there’s some sense of human logic to what they do. Some others that get close might be Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer and Blindside by Peter Watts.

  • I’m always amazed by how much of the neoliberal economy is held up by ads. Producers want people to buy their products so bad that they literally throw away hundreds, thousands, millions of dollars so that 1.0% of us rubes might click a link or go to a drive-thru.

My brother works in marketing. He’s explained the ROI for ads. I just don’t believe it. It’s a fucking shell game.

  • No I like it that size. I imagine the upper windows are just a clearstory and the inside is huge.

I like the stone lintels. And the belt course and cornice are neat on such a small scale. They all look kind of Italianate.

It’s been quite a long time since I took an architectural history course, but do you happen to live in a Midwestern city?
