  • Smuggling is easier than you think, being stupid is a requirement for law enforcement. Especially in America

Just observe the system, go through a couple of times, you’ll see the cracks and should be able to figure it out from there, especially if it’s just to circumvent tariffs and not import illegal goods.

Ask yourself, is it worth the legal system to pursue this matter if it’s relatively minor?

Chances are you’ll just get a slap on the wrist, but there is ALWAYS risk when it comes to this stuff, so also ask yourself is it worth doing it in the first place?

Happy smuggling and remember borders are imaginary! :)

I mean yeah it’s one-shot land but I’d feel more comfortable in the Australian bush than in other territories, a lot of these creatures can be avoided with a little bit of knowledge and caution, but there’s no large predators

Most large creatures here can beat the shit out of you but they wouldn’t unless you threatened them.

  • After WW2 the world was split into 3 categories: first world (Western nations), second world (the Eastern bloc) and third world (everyone else)

America and the USSR both vyed and destabilised a lot of nations to solidify their place as super powers, America gained its power from the British when its economy shifted to war production to support them.

America made a lot of smart moves, like establishing the IMF so the US Dollar is used for international trade, and America has historically honoured all debts through the IMF.

So lots of nations had to kowtow to America to an extent if they wanted to have decent international trade.

Under Trump America is giving up its soft power for isolationism, and you can see a large portion of the world trying to shift away from Americas system through things like BRICS or incentivising different energy systems instead of oil

There is a lot more to this, but I think that’s at least a start to your question

In a similar boat, I guess I would be considered a pantheist by definition.

Staunch atheist growing up, asked myself a similar question. My religious views don’t necessarily change my view of how the world comes to be, or promises anything like eternal salvation; just an acknowledgement that all of this comes from something and by definition you could consider that something to be god.

Any extrapolations ontop of that would have to be considered faith or conjecture.

In fact I think most people would find it somewhat depressing to come to a similar conclusion initially, but the questions that come from this pondering have really helped me find a harmony with the universe and I’m appreciative of that

  • I get the point youre trying to make but a UBI is still a step in the right direction, I’d rather take the gamble and pay my taxes on it than have what we do now.

At the very least it would expose a lot of the systemic issues you’ve mentioned to the broader public, and hopefully that would lead to meaningful change.

I’d prefer a world where people are guaranteed the basics to survive without having to capitulate to the system, we have the technlogical progress and productive capabilities to do this we’re just not there in terms of societal progression.

And I’m going to continue advocating for that world, whether it’s UBI or unbiased infrastructure and systems to provide people with basic needs

  • Artificially inflating prices to cancel out UBI would create economic incentive to undercut those corporations in a free market.

Government intervention could also be used in a less free market to ensure subsistence items aren’t artificially inflated, after that who cares if some company inflates their price? Go work if you want a new shiny thing.

You know what’s really good? Having a safety net to prevent the lowest suffering class of our society dying from things that we’ve been able to prevent for decades.

Having reduced crime because people aren’t fighting over scraps.

Having more mobility in society so people can pursure careers and education that aligns with their own self fulfilment goals.

Stop fighting against a better world for all of us please.
