Interesting, I recently read Slow River by Nicola Griffith, a gay and disabled writer. That had similar criticism all over Goodreads for being non-linear. Interesting to see why the author may have done this now, the themes of the novel tie in with this theory.
I would add, as an ex fundamentalist, my deconversion absolutely followed this non linear route. I’ve often compared the process of deconversion to coming out, and although I’m straight cis, this is another aspect that resonates with my experience.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I hadn’t considered self-hosting. I have set up a home network using a Raspberry Pi before but I am self taught and pretty slow, plus stuff always catches me out that I don’t have the knowledge to solve. I’m wary about opening my mistakes up to the whole Internet…
I will have a look at the other suggestions here though. ChromeOS seems like the low hanging fruit.
This was the only way I could get essays done when studying, get out of bed at 5 and start immediately - nothing to distract. Now I have children I have to get up at 5 every morning so I can never study again 😭
