gay_sexOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you believe that most people act according to their own self-interest? Is acting only according to your self-interest a good strategy in life?English1·10 days agoI wonder if the fact that human civilization has lasted and flourished for so long is just a stroke of luck then…

I agree, and this is a much better way to define “self interest” too.
I mean not exactly, vim is just one part of it when your whole OS is the IDE.

gay_sexOPto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: You can disable scores (upvotes and downvotes) in lemmy, and I think it's great!English31·16 days agoI agree, I won’t argue against their usefulness. I just meant disabling them for myself personally. I used to tend to judge posts and comments from their upvote/downvote scores rather than their actual content, now I can see them for what they are, in my eyes. I found that pretty cool and refreshing.

I was thinking of posting this in the “YouShouldKnow” community at first, but I figured that it wouldn’t fit there.

If you are using something like a third-party client (may be an Android/IOS app that you use to access lemmy), it depends on the app.
If you use lemmy from a website, i.e the official https://lemm.ee/ site, you can navigate to your settings and disable it, just click on the settings button:
then scroll down and find these:
Edit: I see you’ve found it, Welcome to lemmy!
In the middle I was thinking “Woah, 4 MJ/m^3? That’s nearly the same as water!”
You got me, xD
Neat, thanks boss.
I agree, they are actually really cute.
Yeah, Fedora is a really sane and stable distro in my experience. It supports almost everything that can be supported, I have never had to hunt down fixes for malfunctioning hardware.
Whenever I have to install linux somewhere, it’s either Fedora or Debian depending on how often I want to open the machine. I’m already used to both the distros and their package managers, and both always “just work” for my purposes.
