“Free speech” is just a dog whistle and gas lighting now.
You’re not wrong, but I remember when free speech was more of a liberal issue. Freedom for artistic expression and all that. Freedom to curse in music, freedom to create and view porn etc.

Any word if they’re making a LIF? It by far enhanced browsing and had everything I wanted in a phone reader.
Im interested as well because Dove is the only one that doesn’t dry out my skin. They do have unscented Dove, but may be hard to find.
How about sexy John Oliver promoting Lemmy? Make reddit delete the post instead of the mods.
Wow you ain’t kidding! Its White nationalist this, and White nationalist that! They’re going to replace us! /s
Looks nice!.. So do you have one of the bolts going through the rafter behind the fascia then?
Star Trek message boards were around since the BBS->AOL/COMPUSERVE/PRODIGY days. No surprise they’re seeking new life… I’ll show my way out.
If we have communities sync’ed on multiple instances we can solve that. At first this was my presumption for how the federation works, but I then learned /c/Pennsylvania on one instance is helpful local news and on another its right-wing propaganda.
It probably /could/ be duplicated across servers, but I don’t see the benefit.
I would think what this reddit api fiasco proves is that its ultimately necessary. What’s to stop an individual host from going the same way as reddit? What is to stop the host from running out of money to host the community? Lastly, would be nice to provide load balancing for high volume communities.
So with the Federated business… Can a community be ‘hosted’ on multiple servers? I’ve seen some communities with the same name on different hosts, but completely different posts and moderation rules.
Anyone find anything good for space news?
Yeah a lot of naysayers had me convinced a short protest would do nothing, but you’re right… This is about awareness. I’ve noticed particularly in the last year a downgrade in quality content on reddit and im sure others are noticing. Lemmy might not be ready yet, but it can be with some building inertia and useability improvements.
Yeah thats my biggest issue so far… I can’t imagine explaining how to get my non tech literate friends on here yet. I kinda wish it was more ready before the reddit api fallout happened.
I’m actually impressed it seems to be holding up rather well from what I’m seeing. Is there anywhere to view the uptick in traffic?
Yeah I’m getting a “You Broke Reddit” message when attempting to old.reddit.com. I didn’t break reddit ‘you’ broke reddit lol.
And relogin to whatever annoying login process each one makes you do.
