There always the defederation option. There was no exodus from mastodon when fashy-twitter (gab) started using a fork as their backend. Everyone just blocked them. At least thats my understanding.

This is vet much the case for me atlest. I’ve posted/commented more in the last 2 or 3 days here than i did the the last 2-3 months on reddit.

For me it’s like moving to a small town. Instead of a whole scene into each if my weird interests it’s just a few cool people. But thats just a function of population.
