You had me until the last sentence. There are a lot of deeply misguided—and plain fucking stupid—reasons that circumcision has become seen as the ‘norm’ in the US, but I don’t think it’s how the American people takes its aggression out on men?? That’s a pretty unhinged thing to think. I understand the anger and frustration at genital mutilation of babies (bc that’s what it is, in my opinion), but let’s come back to earth a bit.

EDIT: since this comment is getting attention, I just wanted to add that it really does seem like people are waking up to how fucked circumcision is. We just had a baby, and as part of our stack of information brochures given to us by the hospital (in Oklahoma, a deeply red state), there was a whole page dedicated to circumcision pros and cons. You could tell it heavily favored not circumcising, and preserving bodily autonomy was it’s own full bullet point on the cons side, as well as busting myths that people perpetuate trying to justify it still.

Also, in our infant care courses, they showed some really awful pictures of freshly-circumcised baby penises. We had already decided not to circumcise for obvious moral reasons, but that made us feel even more secure in our decision. I feel like more parents need to see that stuff to make them realize what’s actually going to be done to their baby with the procedure.

All that to say, I think there’s hope for decreasing the occurrences of this deeply awful cultural practice!

…Why not just wipe the pan out with a paper towel and throw it in the trash? If you bunch up a few of them and move quickly, you can do this while the pan is still kinda warm, even.

I would definitely urge you to consider what @Dark_Arc is saying. I was one of the kids they’re talking about, whose parents micromanaged all internet access and didn’t end up doing well. Obviously you know what’s best for your family, but as a product of that environment, it hindered me more than helped. I would hate for you to be doing all the work you’re doing trying to keep them off of what you deem inappropriate, too, when it doesn’t really help in the long run.

Just something to consider.

Idk why the tv show would have gotten them any grace? As far as I know, all they did was let the property be bought and used by Amazon. Todd Howard executive produced, but that’s not saying much. The show has nothing to do with them as a studio. They just lucked into a team who had something interesting planned with the IP.

You’ve never lived with a dog that’s actually been trained then. I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve never done any of those things beyond the puppy stage. I recommend it, but it is a big responsibility, akin to parenting when done properly.

Unfortunately it’s true. It’s pretty well known in beauty/aesthetic procedure spaces, which many celebrities inhabit. It’s why so many have samey looking teeth, it’s wild.

I thought it was closer to uterus, and that’s what he was thinking of? A kid that age would be more likely to know that word because of health classes; they don’t teach words like ‘vulva’ (in the US, at least. Too sexual, I guess 🙄) which is why so many people don’t learn there’s a separate word for vulva and vagina until they’re way older.

Christ, my heart goes out to these parents. I cannot imagine the hell they’re living right now, makes me sick thinking about my own 6 week old. I’ll definitely be rethinking leaving him alone with our border collies from now on. It was so big of them to decide on organ donation; they’re basically using their loss to save other families.
