I found it in a magazine from the 50s, someone posted a link to it for a picture of the “Horshoe Curve” and I found this gem on page 111. The context is “In suburb of Rio macumba followers dance and chant night through before a peggy, an altar holding Christian images used in orgiastic rites.”
