Iran on Saturday night launched a large wave of attack drones from its territory toward the Jewish state, in the first-ever direct attack on Israel by the Islamic Republic, with warning sirens activated in Israeli communities throughout the country early Sunday as the military worked to intercept the Iranian aircraft.

militaryassets first. He deliberately provoked this.He attacked Iranian civilian assets - it was a consulate.
Out of the 16 casualties, 2 were civilian. Seems like it was targeting military personnel.
A consulate is not a military installation by design. It is a diplomatic building, and considered sovereign ground of the represented nation state. Israel quite literally attacked Iran’s territory first.
It should also be noted that while it’s widely known Israel carried out the attack, they have not confirmed or denied it.
