I recently set up my own Lemmy instance via elest.io, but am having an issue I’m hoping someone here will be able to shed some light on. I am going to reach out to elest.io directly as well, but I’m not sure if it’s more of a Lemmy issue or a hosting issue.

I set up the instance, and configured the settings in elest.io so that I can access it from my domain. The instances seems to load fine when I access it from my domain, but it won’t let me log in. When I type my username and password in, and hit the login button, nothing happens. I can log in fine using the original generated url from elest.io. My gut is saying it isn’t an issue of not configuring the domain names/PTR records correctly since everything seems to load just fine; it just won’t let me log in.

Also, I just noticed that it’s using the generated URL after my username for my posts (instead of my custom domain). Anyone know how to change that?

I had the same issue when I tried them. Use the file explorer somewhere in the dashboard to access the server file system. Inside there is a README. It explains how to set up your own domain. It’s definitely an elest.io issue and not Lemmy.

I’m absolutely not familiar with elest.io but from what you’re saying I would check that you have a certificate for that domain / https. I don’t think it’s PTR records at all.
