In a blow to Gov. Ron DeSantis and other Florida conservatives opposed to the measure, the state’s Supreme Court on Monday approved a recreational marijuana constitutional amendment for the November 2024 statewide ballot.

Funny how hard it is to get the party that makes a big deal out of “we the people” to listen to the people, isn’t it? I wonder how this is polling with all the maga that seem to live there though.

The Florida thing is now ignoring them, after they ask and are told.

See: all the felons prevented from voting after approved.

Given their governor and state legislature, I’m sure even if the people decide to approve it, the DeSatan and the rest will do everything they can to stop it, not unlike what is happening in my state.

Recreational weed and abortion being on the ballot is a massive opportunity. I’m still not sure that it’s truly in play, but this is about as good a chance as Dems will get for any positions or issues in that state.

I guaran-fuckin-tee that if this passes a popular vote that FL Republicans will just ignore it or create some loophole that makes it functionally illegal… just like other Republican legislatures have done with popular votes on things they don’t like, and just like FL did with felons voting.

Seems like abortion rights are similar. They all say they don’t want it but even some conservative states have already voted to get back abortion rights. FL will get to choose on that too.

If FL got back abortions and had legal weed that would be impressive considering their shit bag governor. I’m glad they have a chance now

    Narrator: Not really.

Guarantee if this goes the “wrong” way they’ll figure out a way to stop it.

Republicans will just slow walk any implementation for years still the while passing bills to heavily restrict use.

As a Florida resident there’s two things everyone should know about ballot measures here, the first thing is that most things needs a 60% super majority to pass, the second thing is, the Florida GOP has consistently undermined and subverted most ballot measures they don’t agree with.

So absolutely please vote for this measure, but be ready for disappointment, and be ready to fight the state government to make these measures stick once they voted for.

Honestly, with Florida being One of the biggest spring break destinations in all of North America it’s shocking to me that they didn’t follow Colorado in 2014, it’s basically printing money at that point.

I hope it does because medical industry is scammy and makes no sense. They literally make it stupid and confusing on purpose. Typical Florida.

Really? They don’t get to choose if it’s alright for their kids to hear about their gay teachers husband. But drugs, that’s important for democracy to work

Repubs can smoke pot without angering their vengeful god. Can’t say the same about kissing another dude. See? It makes total sense.
