    that’s an innovative use of existing tech - relatively low startup costs/no r&d, etc. do they pump the hole with water then & run a steam turbine then?

    This seems promising. Though given that it seems to involve fracking (as the article implies I think?) I do have some concerns in that regard.

    Of course that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to this. Decarbonizing the energy sector is probably a bigger priority for the time being, I’d say, but it’s always useful to be cautious.

      Yes, it means fracking hot rock, so that you can circulate a fluid between two wells. The fossil fuels industry uses fracking to connect pores within rock formations so that oil and gas can be removed.
