This is one of the more upsetting redditor stories I’ve run into and it’s not even that bad for the storyteller. The monstrosity of the system is its purpose, from being forced to call a hotline every day to find out if you’re being randomly tested that day or violate parole, to being able to pay off your community service hours, to being told you have to spend time in prison but it can just be nights on the weekends all underscores that the cruelty is the point.

Texas chuds hate weed so much (well at least the politicians and cops). Many of them think it is a gateway drug etc, but also think it will bring liberals to their towns if they legalize weed. Also they are bought off by the prison-industrial complex

I fucked around A LOT with drugs when I was 18. The only difference between me (a qualified school teacher) and this guy is luck and maybe how less reactionary my hometown is.

There is a phone line that you have to call in everyday to check and see if you are drug tested that day. The phone line was open from 6am-4pm. If you didn’t call within that time frame, you would be risking a violation for a missed drug test.

They couldn’t just fucking email him once a month. The poor guy needs to call every day.
