I don’t have any ideological reason to not have dirty communist content on wolfballs but they block us and we can’t comment back.
So for that reason I don’t want their content promoted here right now.
If someone really wants it here let me know and I can unblock it. I just can’t think of a good reason for it to be here if we can’t participate in their discussions.
Yeah that’s fair. It has to be either open both ways or closed. Fuck em
People will just complain that no one is replying to their comments from there.
Is there a reason some lemmygrad communities are still listed in the Communities-overview?
I personally am not bothered by any groups with opposing political/ideological views, as long as they aren’t completely degenerate. Yet I agree, that federalization shouldn’t be a one way street.
Is there? I thought I removed them all.
I’m viscerally anti-censorship, but even I have no issue with blocking blockers.
The point of the site is to discuss. If we can’t what’s the point?
Thank you. And we would basically be paying to boost their content without being able to benefit from having discussions.
the only positive I can think of is being able to see their view to know what the other side is thinking
it might be valuable for us to have discussions of their posts of instances that block us, as long as it is marked out that our comments will not reach them
or for example a lemmy.ml tech community might post interesting things that would come up in a feed, that we would repost as standalone posts on wolfballs for our own open discussion
I can see some use cases there. We would need UI that tells users the community is blocking us though and I dont want their votes that we can’t participate in fucking up our front page algorithms.
basically same idea as Dissenter which I brought up, only applied to lemmy instances kind of.
For that I think we should just write a bot that repost from certain communities.
I can probably do that in a day.
that would work. Repost maybe from certain communities like the linux one. In to its own separate lemmy mirror community (not the wolfballls linux). Or do you think they should be combined? I think it might be good to be separate to prevent duplicates and junk posts getting on to the main linux community.
As far as the bot is concerned, it doesn’t matter. Anyone could run the bot from any computer because it would call a public api to get recent post, filter out ones already saved and then post them to the other instance.
Whoever is running the bot or modding the community could decide where it would post.
ruqqus had a bot API, does lemmy? Or should one be made?
lemmy has a public api which can be used by a bot ( or a human aka web browser ). Accounts have a flag you can set called bot in your user profile that will make the user show up as a bot.
I really do want to write this bot, it sounds fun. I have higher priority stuff to work on atm. If I get wolfballs time I need to run the migration script and get us to a new domain.
I’m not one of your users, but I gotta say, I’m not a fan of this move man. What if they unblock you? I’d always keep that door open instead of blocking people that block you.
Thanks for your view.
If they unblock us I’m happy to unblock them. As it stands their content (which you may not be aware is no doubt in part funded by the Chinese Government’s team of Wumao) would be promoted here and all our content is completely blocked there creating an illusion of consensus against freedom.
I cant think of a reason I would ever block any instance that does not block us.
I’m happy to help them in the goal of creating a internet free of big tech tyranny but I will not aid in the creation of a even more tyrannical internet where points of views are punished for being pro freedom.
The free folk of the fediverse must not bend the knee to censorship. We need to form alliances that will bring about more freedom not less.
