Yeah, that’s sorta relatable. I have a big long list (>400) of shows and movies that I’m chewing through, and at this rate I’m never getting to anime from this year.
I’d like to see more movies in the future. Maybe curate a small collection. I find myself with little time these days to do it with work dragging me out all the time. My mom is ending up finishing all the shows we start together because I’m too tired to sit down and watch them to the end with her. Well, at least she’s getting her enjoyment out of it.
I’m lucky enough to be in a situation where being productive and watching shows aren’t really in conflict. Sucks that you’re so drained, wish I could do something to help with that.
It’s old but I just finished the show and then the movie and, wow, it was so damn amazing! I also recently watched Dallos which was very cool and timely!
I’m not much of an anime head either. I don’t mind picking up a good story though, and I especially appreciate the beautiful artwork some artists make. In 2018, I tried to set up a block to watch on Hulu during the weekends while ironing my clothes, in imitation of the old Toonami but, I fell off of it. I was checked out for the rise and fall of the whole isekai fantasy genre. I guess I’d like to explore a mix of well-known classics and newer stuff. I’d appreciate any recommendations you have.
I borrowed a lot of Ghibli movies from my college’s library to see. Partially to see them for myself and partially to gain some cultural currency. I appreciate the beauty of the art in some of those animated films.
Oh, for sure! Like I said, I don’t know too much so I might mention ones you already watched but as someone who never really watched them I was totally blown away by a few and really grew to respect anime as a result.
From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori) is my absolute favorite. Psycho-Pass (season 1 only), Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Dallos, Revolutionary Girl Utena.
But I actually really didn’t like Evangelion, which, as someone really interested in religion, was extremely disappointing because I expected much better.
I have to admit, I haven’t watched the Studio Ghibli films but I know I should though. But I watched Grave of the Fireflies!
Me, I guess? What do you want to talk about?
First episode of my deer friend nokotan just dropped today, I intend to get around to watching it eventually.
I’m getting to be such a dinosaur with anime, lol. I haven’t watched anything new in years.

Well, to be fair, while I don’t keep up with TV, I still can keep up with my podcasts at work. So that moves me through the evening.
Have you ever watched Revolutionary Girl Utena?

Heard of it from folks here but, never checked it out so far.
Oh, please do! It’s such a beautiful anime. I’m not a huge anime head but it’s definitely up there among the best I’ve seen.
Which animes do you like?
