I think part of the struggle to grow this platform will be growing the fediverse as a whole.
It will be extremely important for us to develop a model to make money. A model that is reproducible by other instances. I think that will help people get more excited about hosting instances. And also a way for users to tap into that revenue model. People who make good shit post and good news post should have a way to monetize it.
After I start sending out some advertisments this month. That needs to be the goal.
Probably start with a small shop selling one thing. Make that a good experience and share the code.
One thing right away would be brave basic attention tokens, as well as setting up a subscribestar and liberapay.
Say what you will about reddit, the concept of reddit gold makes them a lot of money every day, and I’m sure once the platform reaches a critical mass then something like that could be used to both incentivise the platform and the posters.

We could fork our own crypto as a way to implement this. That way anyone could use the coin in their instance however they want.
Would need to think about that. I have thought it would be funny to make a coin called like wolfturd. You know because it would be our own custom shit coin.

Lol I like that – wolfturd the shitcoin. Once the everything bubble bursts there’ll have to be a pathway from the coin to something worth having, since I expect most cryptos to collapse during that process.
I wouldn’t expect the coin to be worth actual currency. Just be able to exchange it for some site feature that isn’t important.
