Much like how a lot of people consume zombie “horror” movies less for a “horror” experience and more to get off to power fantasies of mowing down dehumanized “others,” I think a lot of people that are into “adult humor” games aren’t really there for a natural laugh as much as for the “clapter” of the edgy word combination and how it must trigger delicate snowflakes or the like.
In general, if something has to market itself as “adult” or “mature,” to me it usually translates as “teenagers and people that never quite stopped acting like teenagers see this as adult/mature.”

bobs burgers is the most mature animated sitcom and isn’t marketed as “adult” so this checks out
I feel the same way about Tuca and Bertie, though that certainly isn’t intended for children and isn’t marketed that way, either. The show is horny and has a fair bit of swearing, but the actual themes and story beats are outright wholesome much of the time and speak to greater interpersonal truths than the types of self-described “mature” fandoms that recite “DAE LE POOPY BUTTHOLE GET SCHWIFTY” and the like.
I think zombies is also about self insertion survivalist fantasies - general apocalyptica - playing along with the show saying ‘ooh, I would’ve actually gone to the medical supply store first’, or whatever.
Otherwise these edgy things are for people who just aren’t culturally analytical or engaged. Funny poop offensive random - that’s the internet. People who aren’t very online don’t bump into that stuff every day.

Shidding and pissing back and forth forever
