We “tankies” do not support the violence that Israel commits against Palestine, as it is a settler apartheid state similar to South Africa that brutally suppresses the Palestinians. While you might’ve only seen violence from Palestinians in the news, this is only because the news ignores Israel’s violence against them in order to blame the victim.
Notice that during this paragraph their ethnicity did not play into it. If the situation was reversed and Jews were being systematically destroyed by Arabs, we would be just as opposed to it. “Zionism” in this context refers to the idea that the Jewish people “deserve” to carve out an ethnostate in the middle east, at the expense of the people living there.
If you have read this and believe that Jewish people deserve an ethnostate because of the Holocaust, you should ask why that state needs to be in the middle east, at the expense of the non-Jewish people living there, rather than say…in Germany, the nation that actually committed those horrific atrocities.
