The book was sloppy masturbatory nonsense enough (and the chud relative that “gifted” it to me expected me to love it because bibeo bame) and the movie got the Spielburgian treatment on top of that where the lazy pandering late 70s early 80s bazinga of the shitty book was swapped out for late 90s-to-present bazinga shit instead.
Don’t even peek at “Ready Player Two,” which takes the already masturbatory premise and cranks it up to a mind control sex slave harem and escape into space “heroic” plot that’d fit right in with the current ruling class.
