So is this bit about some delinquent fascist with dementia who was already president once up for bid again. Also, that when he don’t win, there will be a coup like when JFK was assassinated by the corporations that successfully sold it as being conducted by anyone else.

…and “bid” because let’s be real. The whole shebang is a fucking auction that has sold the fucking business of “Government” to the corporations respected by allowing them to STOP PAYING %78 IN TAXES.

JFK very explicitly pissed off the CIA when he fired a bunch of the Bay of Pigs hawks and failed to escalate with Cuba after the missile crisis.

Harris isn’t doing anything like that. She’s fully endorsed our militarism abroad and our police state at home.

If she catches a bullet, it’ll be for the same reason Trump nearly did - because he was sloppy with his security detail and they were phoning in their end of the job.

The thing that really gets me about this story is it was an ESL School. The students were mostly adults learning to speak English. Not only should an ESL school understand the English language well enough to know what a homophone is, homophones are an extremely important concept for non-native English speakers because that kind of word can cause lexical confusion.

This teacher was fired for doing his job correctly.

Any person who freaks out over grammar lessons and destroys a child’s homework is completely unhinged and seriously needs some mental health care interventions.

That lack of impulse control and rage has no place in a family setting… or anywhere really.

I guess these are the family values conservatives are pushing these days. Grown men ripping up a kid’s homework assignments. I guess book burning wasn’t enough.

Modern conservatism is mental illness - it’s not a case of being dense - it’s a case of being genuinely disabled.

I don’t think we should be imprisoning the mentally ill (that’s more of a conservative thing) - I think we should be giving them access to treatment. From there, the bulk of the conservative brain damage should resolve itself.

Imprisoning those inciting violence against minorities based on lies and attempting to overthrow the government based on more lies seems like a responsible step in protecting Americans and American democracy though.

It’s hyperbole. They were mocking you for using “mentally disabled” as an insult. You’re the one talking like a conservative right now, using disability as a pejorative.

It’s not true when Conservatives say “Liberalism is a mental disorder”, just as it’s not true when Liberals say “Conservatism is a mental disorder”. The only thing that’s true in that context is that supporters of both major parties have no problem throwing people with mental disabilities under-the-bus over politics.

Republicans are stupid, they are ignorant, they are hateful; but none of those things constitutes a disability. If they did, I would have compassion like I would for any other disabled person.

I think you’re missing the point of the original comment. Describing modern conservatism as a disability at once absolves conservatives of their responsibility not to hold abhorrent views, by classing it as a characteristic they have no control over, and lumps people with disabilities into a group that, in a non-insignificant number of cases, wants them dead or sterilised.

That’s why the commenter was upset with you; not because you’ve criticised eugenics, but because you’ve been massively insensitive, and when someone pointed out that insensitivity you became defensive and attacked them in return.

I think we agree that most self-identified conservatives aren’t actually very invested in the status quo or tradition, and are actually regressive reactionaries, but I think it’s a clearer point to say that most self-identified conservatives aren’t in fact conservative, than that conservatism isn’t actually what people (claim they) mean when they say conservative. At that point, conservatism loses its meaning.

There is a difference between historical conservatism and what it has become. Even setting that aside, there is much daylight between what a movement will profess and what it will ultimately produce.

It’s the allegedly small government, pro-freedom “conservatives” – i.e. self-deluded liberals who mislabeled themselves – who were the aberration.

Yeah, my mom would dropped that like it was hot. I was home schooled because we moved so much (poor, not military). When we got to the science module of the school books when I was ± 8 years old, she realized just how much fundamentalist bullshit was in them. She has spent basically everything on those books, and we never used them again. Went to the local library and got all the science books she could, and taught actual science to me. The books they had sent literally had drawings on humans wearing leopard skins foraging for berries while a dinosaur drank water in the background.

It’s the middle of the night for me, so I didn’t look to find the picture, but a beka books are the books I used until I was 8, when the science modules started. I had severe struggles learning how to read with them, too. My mom got sing, spell, read and write from a friend of a friend, and I went from literally nothing to reading without issue within a month. Basically, a beka is absolute trash and should be forced to shut down. They’re absolutely horrible.

But, one really cool thing, when she discovered how bad the a beka books were, and she got text books from the local library (which the state of Virginia never told her was an option when she called to get everything set up for the homeschooling. They told her to use a beka), our options exploded. There were so many, and I was able to go to the local library and do my studying because my neighborhood had a library in it. I ended up graduating 12th grade at 14, because we didn’t take summers off, and curriculum was basically designed specifically for me. I’m not against homeschooling, a lot of people assume I am when I mention those books, but I am against religious fundamentalism being passed off as state approved education.

Sorry, that was really long. Tl;Dr my mama is fucking awesome, and a beka books are absolute garbage. Lol
