I run a weekly WFRP group and for various personal reasons our two most competent fighters have left the group. This has left the remaining 3 characters (a hedge mage, a social character, and a ranged fighter) in a situation where they are simply too scared to take plot threads, as they might entail combat.
Yes, they have the option (and enough money) to hire mercenaries just to put bodies between them and danger, but that also entails an ongoing cost. They also happen to be at the beginning of Shadows Over Bögenhafen, which is a convenient place to on-board new players.
edit: oh, uh you can just respond to this post or DM me to apply.
Please help us, I am very big weenie and have no fighting skills
I wish I could. Alas, I am already a noble knight on sundays.
when do you play?
Sundays, as I work weeknights
Ah nevermind, can’t do sundays I run a Shadowdark game then. Best of luck in your search!
sounds fun but i doubt i could commit so instead i’ll bump for visibility!
Appreciated
Never played the Warhammer rpg before. What kind of system is it like?
Closest thing I have to compare it to is Chaosium/Call of Cthulhu and early D&D. You have a d100 that you roll against the appropriate skill or stat, with your rank in said skill or stat as the DC. If you roll lower than your stat, you succeed. Difficulty is added or subtracted from the relevant stat
Example: Your charm skill is a 30 and you’re interacting with someone who likes you, so you get a +20 to charm and so your DC is effectively 50 for that roll.
I’m free sundays from the afternoon on but I’ve only been playing ttrpgs for a little over a year and I know almost nothing about warhammer
I actually have a decent grasp from going to sleep listening to YouTube lore videos but I’m playing an illiterate half foot that probably doesn’t know albino skaven are the elite guards of the Council of Thirteen.
That’s okay I’m the only one in the group who does. I’ve been holding their hands through lore stuff and I’ll gladly hold yours too.
Is it okay if my player worships CHAOS!!!
From a DM perspective: Sure.
However, I think the other players may object to a character who is putting them at risk of coming face to face with the Inquisition.
Hmmm, I maybe open but I’m not familiar with the game system, I know a bit about Warhammer lore tho. More 40k than traditional fantasy tho.
The only fighter character idea for the fantasy setting I have would be a warrior of chaos though.
Most of what you know from 40K still applies. It’s just narrower in scope, as it’s restricted to just the one planet.
Also, “Fighter” is a bit of a misnomer, as there aren’t “classes” in WFRP, per se. Like there are a bunch of different careers that fall under the “Fighter” archetype, and even if you don’t pick one of them, you can still spec your character to be good at fighting. Chaos warrior is a career, but it’s not designed as one you can take from the off. The good news is that the adventure we’re playing does give you the option to take that career at some point.
Hmmm, give me a day or so to research the system and I’ll get back to yah.
Cool. Just a heads up, we’re using 4th edition (with the suggested overhauls from Up In Arms/Winds of Magic)
