Summary

Following Trump’s election victory, social media saw a surge in misogynistic rhetoric, with phrases like “Your body, my choice” — promoted by figures like white supremacist Nick Fuentes — trending widely.

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue reported a 4,600% spike in misogynistic language on social media and noted that harassment has spilled into schools.

Trump’s win, amplified by Elon Musk’s support, has emboldened “manosphere” influencers, aligning Trump with anti-feminist figures.

This rise in misogyny comes amid other social shifts, such as the election of two Black female senators, a first in U.S. history.

Is the DNC so bad that millions of individuals sat on their hands and allowed a wannabe despot get control of the country (and Congress)? Nah. DNC ain’t perfect, but the non-voters and third party voters are fucking petty dipshits who absolutely have a hand in whatever comes out of the MAGAverse.

I for sure think that the DNC aren’t to blame in the same way that a firefighter who uses a garden hose to try to put out a burning house isn’t responsible for the smoking ruins when there are other people throwing molotovs through the windows, slashing the tires of the firetrucks, and getting the neighbors to throw bricks at the firefighters.

That being said, if my house was on fire and it was clear that I couldn’t get the active vandals to stop despite them burning themselves in the process, I think it’s justified to work on replacing or training the firefighters to be more competent and/or rutheless with dealing with the threat.

Maybe fix the structure - the whole voting system - rather than just putting more of the same into the never ending circle jerk?

Democrats had their chance to make reforms and ignored it. Both parties oppose election reform because it threatens their [current] control.

      The people are to blame.

America voted for Trump, but you’re going to blame the people who were working extremely hard to offer a viable alternative?

No he didn’t. Each election, he’s gotten more votes than the prior one.

          • 2016: 63.0 million (46.1% of votes cast)
          • 2020: 74.2 million (46.8%)
          • 2024: 75.8 million (51.3%) - there are still some outstanding votes to be counted, so this will likely go up.

Individual people worked hard for that. DNC leadership worked very hard to move to the right and reject progressive/leftist ideals. They proudly touted their endorsements from the Cheneys FFS.

The people voted for change, which Harris wasn’t offering.

It’s really fascinating how so many online have all the answers, and it would be so easy, and yet, you’re not out there doing it

The answer is simple. It is not easy. The DNC needs to be replaced ground up with people that push for real change. The hard part is pushing out people in positions of power that don’t want to give it up because they benefit from the status quo.

I also hope that those similar to your ideals focus on building you up for your common values, rather than arm chair criticisms while ignoring the deeply problematic other side of the equation.

Organizing in person for change and being loud about it. Part of that is helping people direct their anger in the right place by pointing out the problem. It’s a lot easier to effect change when you’ve got a critical mass of people that are pissed off and want the same change.

What is your alternative? More failure that ends up with fascists in power? Are you pro-Trump?

The failure was the voters, not the party. That’s who brought the fascists to power. The voters had a choice, a very apparent and obvious choice, to avoid fascism.

Too lazy to make the meme, but you’re literally personifying the Principal Skinner meme. “Am I out of touch? No, it is the voters who are wrong.”

Hate the game all you want, the DNC still failed at convincing people that Trump was worse than their corporatist bullshit, because people are desperate for change

And how was that not obvious? On a global, ethical, personal rights, life-and-death scale?

It was a shitty choice, but the choices weren’t equal.

People are tired of the democrats not delivering and not fighting hard enough. They care more about unity and decorum than delivering for their base, so much so that they abandon the left to court the likes of cheney 🤮.

The message is clear, if you don’t make concessions or compromises with the left elements of your party, if you don’t get the base on board with your platform, 15 million of us will just sit out the election.

But please keep blaming the people when Democrats failed on messaging and on milquetoast policy. It happened with corporate ass hilary and corporate ass kamala, the only reason biden won was because of the concessions he made to bernie in the primary coupled with covid and mail in voting directly in peoples minds.

In a FPTP voting system, one party dicking around and fucking up is equivalent to giving you the other option. It’s not fun or cool, but it’s true.
