Summary
Silicon Valley contributed over $394.1M to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, with Elon Musk donating $242.6M to Donald Trump.
The tech industry’s growing political influence reflects its efforts to shape regulations around emerging technologies like crypto and AI.
Crypto advocates, including Ripple’s Chris Larsen and the Winklevoss twins, spent heavily, swaying policies and congressional races.
Trump, once critical of crypto, embraced it, appointing crypto-friendly figures to key roles.
And yet the DNC will still say it’s not a problem, because donation bundlers usually get to keep 5-15% of the billions it takes to run campaigns. And DNC leadership is based on who can being the most money in.
