Summary
Satellite images show Russian warships missing from the Tartus naval base in Syria after rebel forces ousted Bashar Assad in a swift offensive, ending his 13-year rule.
Earlier images from December showed warships docking and leaving intermittently, but all vessels were gone by December 9.
The loss of Tartus and the nearby Khmeimim airbase, key to Russia’s military logistics, would be a significant blow.
Moscow has not confirmed its forces’ status.
The U.S. attributes Assad’s downfall to weakened support from Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah.
Missing? What do you mean, missing? They ain’t exactly a pair of fucking car keys are they?

They tried to move it out of port and it immediately sank perhaps?
From the article, they were also all gone on the 3rd and back on the 6th.
Maybe they’ll be back again tomorrow. This seems like a nothing story.
Russian Warship. Go fuck yourself!
They’re needed for target practice in Ukraine.
Can’t get there. The Bosphorus is closed to warships
It’s closed to warships of nations who are at war. Technically, the US could sail a surface action group into the Black Sea, as the US is not recognized (by Turkey, under the Montreux Convention) as being “at war”.
Just tie them up to some elephants and drag them across the Caucasus. Hannibal did it 2000 years ago, surely Russia is more skilled than ancient Carthage
So I’m looking up how many elephants they would need, and so far it’s a lot.
Or create a new canal from Northern Russia to the black sea…
